General information

Paddleboarding

Around Jesolo and Lido di Jesolo the Upper Italian Riviera offers stand-up paddlers the rivers Sile and the Piave furthermore the Canale Cavetta, built in 1499, which connects both rivers and, of course, about 13 km of sea coast. The Canale Cavetta and the coast allow you to go straight ahead for many kilometers, but the rivers are meandering and therefore more interesting to paddle. Of the Piave only the estuary is located in the outskirts of Lido di Jesolo. If you want to experience more of this river, you have to start much further north and paddle towards the sea.

Swimming

Jesolo's beaches are naturally located in Lido di Jesolo (Lido = beach) and stand for varied bathing fun over an incredible length of 13 km, of which 12 km are accompanied by the completely barrier-free beach promenade. A few streets into the city runs Europe's longest shopping street with many shops, bars and possibilites to relax.

It is also worth mentioning that the beaches of Jesolo are regularly awarded the Blue Flag and thus stand for sustainability, environmental protection and a great infrastructure. So it doesn't matter which of the almost twenty stretches of beach you want to relax on since they are all clean.

By Bau Bau Beach there is also a dog beach with all sorts of dog-friendly amenities.

Already in April and also in November the maximum water temperature can reach 20°C. In July and August even up to 30°C are possible, with the average values in summer always being above 23°C.

If you want to experience water action away from the beaches, you can let off steam in the Caribe Bay theme park:

Worth seeing

The Jesolo Air Show (Frecce Tricolori), which has been held annually at the beginning of September since 1999 is one of the top events in the region. Over 500,000 people watch this three-hour spectacle free of charge along the entire coast. The main stage is set up on the beach in front of Piazza Brescia, but you can also follow everything in the neighboring municipality of Cavallino Treporti along all of its beaches.

If you go to Jesolo anyway, you could also check out San Donà di Piave or Portogruaro. Both have nice old towns, whereas Jesolo unfortunately has little to offer in this regard.

The  Church of San Giovanni Battista is located in the center of Jesolo and can look back on a history dating back to the 12th century. If you want to paddle the Sile from Jesolo to the sea, you can visit the church and Piazza Giacomo Matteotti beforehand and then walk over the bridge to get on the water.

Extra Tips

A bike tour through Lido di Jesolo and the whole region is incredibly entertaining. The network of cycle paths is sensational and it's also good to travel with children because of the flat landscape. Furthermore the drivers of motor vehicles are extremely respectful of cyclists.

Europe's longest shopping mile is located in Lido di Jesolo. Along Via Bafile you will find around 1,300 shops and an estimated hundreds of bars, nightclubs and restaurants. From May to September, every evening the shopping street becomes a pedestrian zone and of course a party mile.

Especially in summer there are a lot of different markets and night markets, offering food, health care products, handicrafts, textiles and much more.

In Jesolo's amusement park New Jesolandia you will find entertaining attractions every evening, especially for children and young people. There is also an Argentinian restaurant in the park.

If you are paddling on the coast for the first time and prefer to look for professional support, you can join a guided SUP tour. It takes you from the tranquil neighboring community of Eraclea Mare to the Laguna del Mort and back again.

A little west of Portogruaro and on the way towards Jesolo, it is a good idea to explore the vineyards of the Lison-Pramaggiore wine region and top it off with a visit to a winery including a wine tasting. There are also great wine-growing regions around the Piave River, which can even be visited including a transfer from Jesolo.
