Although relatively unknown as a SUP spot, the turquoise-coloured Alpine lake turns out to be a colourful natural spectacle set against a stunning mountain backdrop. With your head constantly tilted back, you quickly forget about paddling as you are gently carried across the water by the wind.

The ponds are a real haven of peace with small islands and dreamy bays. Surrounded by almost untouched forest, you can glide across the water on your own and, with a bit of luck, spot the odd jumping fish.

The man-made lake in the leisure park at the foot of Mt. Kulm is the only larger lake in Eastern Styria and is therefore a popular SUP destination in the region.

An abandoned hotel and insurmountable rock massifs in the background, that's what stand-up paddlers glance at around the tourist hotspot of Lake Misurina. At 1800 m above sea level, you certainly are a rare breed when paddling on alpine waters.

Although Lake Landro is quite inconspicuous as a SUP area, it does offer some interesting characteristics. You paddle between steep mountain slopes on an oversized pond with water only chest-high but surprisingly warm.

The climatic health resort of Pörtschach am Wörthersee is popular with paddlers due to the Caribbean colors along its peninsula. The eastern bay also offers sightseeing by the water, as countless old villas line the comfortably navigable shore.
