Paddleboarding

Poreč only has the sea to offer stand-up paddlers, but in a varied manner. Like the entire Istrian coast, the rugged stretches of coast around Poreč also offer many picturesque and romantic bays, such as Červar Porat Bay in the north. South of town, however, you will find countless tiny and uninhabited islands just a few hundred meters from the coast, which are ideal for island hopping. Finally, there is the inviting old town with the offshore island of Sveti Nikola - both of which are worth a SUP ride.

Swimming

As in almost all bathing resorts on the Istrian Riviera (west coast of Istria), you can swim comfortably here from May to October and, to a lesser extent, also in the months before and after. Especially around the turn of the year, however, the Bora with its extreme weather can make it impossible to stay outdoors. Midsummer water temperatures, on the other hand, average up to 25°C.

Around the town center you will find a lot of nice bathing opportunities. But if you prefer something unusual, take the ferry or a taxi boat to the offshore island of Sveti Nikola and enjoy one of its great beaches. Paddlers can do without public water transport companies and paddle to the popular island themselves in just a few minutes.

Of course, it is also worth mentioning that the Blue Flag flies on most beaches as a sign of excellent water quality and high environmental standards.

There is also the Aquacolors aquapark, which claims to be the largest aqua park in Croatia. From June to September you can fully enjoy the twenty attractions on offer.

Worth seeing

In the enchanting old town of Poreč you walk on ancient traces, because the symmetrical street arrangement and the layout of the city already indicate that it was once part of the Roman Empire.

Recommendable buildings are the Euphrasian basilica, the Roman forum with the Neptune temple, Zuccatto palace, the town hall, the romanesque and gothic houses and the various towers.

Anyone who has always wanted to see dolphins can take a dolphin sightseeing tour on the boat from Poreč, because many of these marine mammals cavort in the region. In addition to day trips, two-hour evening tours are also offered.

Extra Tips

A little to the north-east, not far from Cervar Porat Bay, is the popular Baredine Cave. The tour of the five rooms of the cave offers the ideal replacement program on rainy days. From Poreč there is also the possibility of a transfer from the accommodation including a tour and wine tasting.

Istria is known for its wines and its hearty olive oil. If you want to experience and taste these culinary delicacies, you can explore the hinterland of Poreč either on your own or as part of a guided tour.

The Aquacolors water park is just a few minutes outside of the center and offers plenty of attractions and endless water fun for all ages. The day ticket can also be reserved online.

The local craft beer brewery Bura Brew produces wonderfully full-bodied beers, which are sold in and around Poreč. During a tour of the brewery, you can stock up on the noble brew at reasonable prices.

Anyone who would like to provide themselves with regional and seasonal groceries can do so daily at the market which is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Needless to say that it is also a popular social meeting place.
