Paddleboarding
Ptuj offers paddlers two options: you either paddle on the Drava River, which flows into the town coming from Maribor, or you enjoy the dammed Drava - the Ptuj Reservoir (Ptuj Lake). The reservoir is also Slovenia's longest lake.
Swimming
Although Lake Ptuj was created artificially in the course of the regulation of the Drava River in 1978, it is today Slovenia's largest lake and accordingly popular. In addition, the reservoir and its surroundings are part of the Šturmovci Regional Park. Up to 230 bird species are counted here, some of which are highly endangered. On the other hand, there is also a lot of swimming, paddling and boating on the reservoir.
There are also a few other lakes around Ptuj that also invite you to experience a refreshing nature experience.
In the Thermal Park, which is part of the Terme Ptuj you can spend a relaxing wellness day or try the various water slides. Furthermore, there are different accommodation options, ranging from a four-star hotel to bungalows.

Worth seeing
The symbol of the town, the Ptuj Castle, has probably been a strategic viewpoint since the 8th century. In its museum you will find a number of historical artifacts and state rooms as well as a weapons collection with 500 exhibits.
In the middle of the old town you will run across its town hall created by the Viennese architect Max Ferstel, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a popular place in the region to get married and is accordingly well attended, especially on weekends.
The magnificent Ivan Potrc Library is part of the Castle Mali Grad and one of the most beautiful publicly accessible libraries in Europe. It even houses writings from the 15th century.

The English-style Castle Park Turnisce is a protected monument and is home to several rare tree species, such as the red birch and the plane tree.
The archaeological park lies near the old town and offers numerous hiking trails and information boards. Along the archaeological treasures you walk past the town of Ptuj and get a unique view of the Ptuj Castle.
