General information Graz

Paddleboarding

The city on the Mur River. primarily offers river experiences to stand-up paddlers. From white water levels 1-2 to reservoir conditions, everything is possible in the city area. The two rapids in the center are only suitable for experienced paddlers, but south of them you can also float along very comfortably. If you want to get out of the city, you will find easy-to-paddle sections of the river near Deutschfeistritz and Frohnleiten, or you paddle towards South Styria. The artificially created Lake Schwarzlsee in Premstätten/Graz is also suitable for paddling beginners.

Swimming

The river Mur stays well below 20° C water temperature even in summer. Nevertheless, thanks to the new barrages and the relatively low current in the Graz area, you can also go swimming at suitable places. In the city area this is possible at the small port in Maria-Cäsar-Park as well as in Augarten Park. Nevertheless, you should pay attention to the water level and the flow rate and you should not swim too far into the middle! In the area of the hydroelectric power plants, boarding and swimming is prohibited!
