The gentle Drava invites you to a relaxing SUP tour through Upper Carinthia between the towns Spittal and Villach. With panoramic alpine views and plenty of untouched nature, the route winds through the beautiful Drava Valley.

Floodplain landscapes and dreamy little islands characterize the western basin of the Völkermarkt Reservoir, as do views as far as the Alpine borders of Carinthia. Yet, stand up paddlers are a rare eye-catcher here

Between the two largest reservoirs in Carinthia, you paddle along hidden cycle paths, steep rock faces and wooded banks. Well fed by tributaries, the Drava flows surprisingly fast here and saves stand-up paddlers a lot of effort.

An abandoned hotel and insurmountable rock massifs in the background, that's what stand-up paddlers glance at around the tourist hotspot of Lake Misurina. At 1800 m above sea level, you certainly are a rare breed when paddling on alpine waters.

Although Lake Landro is quite inconspicuous as a SUP area, it does offer some interesting characteristics. You paddle between steep mountain slopes on an oversized pond with water only chest-high but surprisingly warm.

The Drava can be paddled at a brisk pace from Austria to Slovenia. The cross-border ride leads through mountains, hills and floodplain landscapes and is easy to master even for SUP novices.
